Ear Infections Webinar

Added March 2023

In this video we discuss a very common childhood condition – ear infections.

This discussion was part of a presentation Drs. Hayley and Breezy held for WCCS students in early 2022. Much of this information can be found within the Elevate program. But this webinar presents the information in a different format and is presented as a logical and (largely) evidence based approach to this condition. We know you’ll get so much out of this content, enjoy!

Dehydration in an Infant

Added March 2023

This discussion focuses on a 7 month old patient that presented with mild signs and symptoms. However, on closer questioning of the parents and following the initial examination, this led to a decision to direct the parents to the local hospital emergency department.

This case highlights that even apparently healthy infants can become very sick, very quickly. Prior to this incident, this child was a happy, healthy baby. Developmentally she was on track. She was rarely, if ever, unwell. She was also breastfed from both sides well, and produced wet and dirty nappies regularly.

This is certainly an interesting case study for you.

Spinal examination of a 6 month old infant

Added Feb 2023

In this video we focus on the spinal examination of the infant. This is a procedure which you should practice many times over, as it is certainly NOT the same as palpating an adult spine. With time, and practice, the examination of an infant’s spine will become second nature to you. However, when you begin, it may be very different to anything you have done before. Make sure you watch the video numerous times until you can confidently and safely examine the spine of an infant.

Red Flags

Added November 2022

Acute life-threatening illnesses or conditions can be quite obvious in adult patients, but they are often far less obvious in children – especially infants and newborns. The younger the child, the more difficult it likely is to identify serious illnesses or conditions.

We have now included an entire section dedicated to Paediatric Red Flags. This is essential information that you will not want to miss. So please give it your full attention.
